“AG Research was contracted by the Bermuda Government’s Land Valuation Department in 2005 to provide a software solution that would take a number of unrelated databases and work processes and integrate them in a true geographical information system. The goal was to create more efficient work controls and processes, better access to and use of property data and more accurate and defendable appraisals and to link this all to our digital maps. The solution they provided us with met all of our requirements and has been tried and tested through to our 2009 revaluation where all the properties on the Island were revalued for tax purposes using the mass appraisal functions of the software.We worked closely with AGRI staff over a number of years taking a vision for a solution to reality. This was not a software solution for one or two work processes but a complete software solution for all of the Department’s work from logging of phone calls to automated updates of the web site when units are revalued. The seamless integration of case management, data and processes with the digital mapping and aerial photography has been a real success and provided staff with everything they need at their computer. Management tools allow the review of the Department’s overall work statistics and those of individual employees including viewing and accessing cases through the maps. Management can review any case from their desk no matter what stage it is at or who it is has been assigned to.

I am pleased to offer a letter of reference for AG Research. The Bermuda Government Department of Planning has been a client of AG Research since 1998. AG Research built the Department’s central database software, BEMIS, which is critical for our daily workflow in the control of Bermuda’s development. Following its successful launch in 1999, we have contracted AG to provide several enhancements to BEMIS over the years including a public version, an extension for historic buildings management, web-based queries, server-based reporting, and integration with other Government systems.
The development of BEMIS was a positive experience for the Department of Planning. The BEMIS system has been critical over the years in allowing the Department to manage its increasing workflow of planning applications and building permits. It is installed on every computer in the Department and is the foremost piece of software used by most of our staff on a daily basis. “The NOCO project was executed under considerable schedule constraints. AG and PWGSC specified a complex Web site that incorporated spatial and data management services. We deployed on Oracle Spatial because of the large data volumes involved. AG executed their work admirably. They fulfilled and exceeded expectations on schedule. “ We began experimenting with SharePoint two years ago with the original Windows SharePoint Services, on the suggestion from AG Research. Our first year was experimental and it resided on a stand-alone server. As we saw it's potential we upgraded to Windows SharePoint Portal Server and also we integrated this into a larger Active Directory Project, also implemented by AG Research.
Our SharePoint installation has grown very significantly in the last year and is used throughout our organization by teachers and student in all of our schools.
The adoption of a new platform was not done lightly, but it's integration with Active Directory has made its' uptake quite 'seamless'. AG Research has taken this project from an idea to a fully integrated data management platform with little difficulty. Their on-going technical and user-support is necessary and provided in a most professional manner.
